Was macht man, wenn man schon mit 20 Jahren schwanger ist? Im Falle von Jules Cobb (Courteney Cox) ist die Antwort klar gewesen: Bloß schnell heiraten. Mittlerweile ist sie 40 Jahre alt und von ihrem damaligen Freund Bobby Cobb (Brian van Holt) ist keine Rede mehr. Sie sind geschieden, führen lediglich noch eine freundschaftliche Beziehung. Nun findet Jules endlich die Zeit, das Single-Dasein in vollen Zügen auszukosten. Unterstützung erhält sie dabei von ihren Freundinnen Laurie (Busy Philipps) und Ellie (Christa Miller). Ihr 18-jähriger Sohn Travis (Dan Byrd) darf da natürlich trotzdem nicht zu kurz kommen. Er ist Jules Ein und Alles.
